Welcome to this Acer Aspire TC-885-UA91 review. If you’re looking for a simple desktop computer that gives you a reliable user experience without having to spend a ton of money, then you’re in the right place. For a budget desktop computer, this Acer desktop comes with a lot of character.

This Acer desktop is primarily made for light users like students and home users. This is also a good candidate for those who are looking to get a second computer at home. For the price, the performance (explain in detail later) is pretty good. But is it worth going after or should you spend a bit more for a better configuration? Let’s find out.

Design

If you’re familiar with the look of the Acer Aspire TC series, then you should know that nothing much has changed. That’s not a bad thing, to be honest. This design has been refined several times and we’ve come to a point where the final design is pretty much ideal.

The black color cabinet comes with a nice finish with ridges at points giving it a modern look. The stylish power button is placed on the top adding some character to the design.

There are vents on the sides to let the hot air out. The fan inside is decent and does a good job when it comes to keeping the temperature at a good level. With the Acer Aspire TC-885-UA91 being an entry-level device, you don’t have to worry about generating a lot of heat inside.

Let’s talk about the input devices. The keyboard we have here is a wired keyboard and it is a classic. The key travel is fantastic and if type a lot, you’ll love this keyboard. You also get a dedicated numeric pad which is nice. The mouse is also a standard one and works as advertised.

Multimedia

As this is a standalone desktop computer, you do not get a display with it. But since we’re dealing with a smaller budget, we can spend some money saved here and spend it on the display. We recommend going after a 21 or 24″ display with Full HD resolution or higher.

The audio output of the Acer Aspire TC-885-UA91 desktop is pretty neat. For a budget device, this audio quality is not that bad. The fact that you get 5.1 surround sound makes this desktop a good one for media consumption (depends on the display though). If you’re an audiophile and can’t compromise on sound, then you probably should get a good set of dedicated speakers.

Processing Power

Acer Aspire TC-885-UA91 desktop

The Acer Aspire TC-885-UA91 model comes equipped with an Intel Core i3 9100 processor. This is a 9th generation processor from the house of Intel that has 4 physical cores and 4 threads. This is one of the most powerful Intel Core i3 processors out there and it comes with a base clock speed of 3.6GHz.

When it comes to daily work, this processor can handle more than you can think. In most scenarios, this processor handles your needs without even triggering turbo boost. And when you need extra power, the processor can clock to a max clock speed of 4.2GHz which is pretty awesome for an entry-level desktop.

The memory department on this desktop comes flush with 8 gigs of RAM. This RAM is of DDR4 type and comes with a clock speed of 2433MHz. You will be fine with this memory as it allows you to multitask without any restrictions.

The advantage of getting a desktop computer is that you can upgrade your hardware whenever you want. If you feel like you’re hit the ceiling, then you can get more RAM whenever needed.

Storage

Storage is one of the most important components of a desktop. If you’re going for premium devices, then there is a good chance that you’ll get neat storage. But when dealing with entry-level devices, you need to be more careful.

Acer has done a pretty good job here. We have a 512GB solid-state drive that is much faster than most mechanical hard drives. A modern machine needs to have fast storage at it can turn your user experience upside down.

The SSD loads the operating system (Windows 10) very fast in just a few seconds. It also helps in launching apps quickly which makes an impact over time.

Connectivity

There are several connectivity options in this Acer Aspire TC-885-UA91 model. On the front, you have a USB Type-C port that comes in handy for quick data transfer and external connectivity. You will also find a USB 3.0 port that good at fast data transfer. In addition to these ports, there is also an SD card reader and an audio jack.

At the back, you’re presented with more ports. There are 2 HDMI ports, 1 VGA port, 4 USB 2.0 ports, 2 USB 3.1 ports, an Ethernet port, and 3 audio ports.

You also get a DVD writer on this desktop computer. This is not something you see in most computers these days, so it’s more of a pleasantry. If you still use DVDs (why?), you can make good use of these.

As far as wireless connectivity is concerned, you get 802.11ac WiFi which gives you excellent internet speeds (depends on your data plans) and also helps in removing unnecessary clutter from your desk. The Acer Aspire TC-885-UA91 model also comes with Bluetooth 5.0 which is an excellent range and you can connect your headphones to your desktop even when you’re a couple of rooms aways (insane).

Graphics Performance

The Acer Aspire TC desktop does not come with a dedicated graphics card. For the price, we can understand why. This is one of the cheapest desktop computers out there and it is quite unfair to expect a dedicated GPU in this machine.

Having said that, the desktop does well when it comes to handling your everyday graphics requirements. The integrated graphics card is the Intel UHD graphics and you can even run some mid-range games on this PC without any issues. This GPU also does well when it comes to graphic design, and video editing (simple) as well.
